Copper Leaching and Bioleaching Industries

Nowadays, the orientation and approach of the copper production industries is towards hydrometallurgical methods. This is becoming increasingly important due to the high cost of raw materials, high investment, manpower and problems such as environmental pollution, high energy consumption and the impossibility of reusing consumables. In the hydrometallurgy method, after extraction from the mine, the mineral ores will subjected to crushing and agglomeration operations, by performing the dissolution operation on it (leaching), the solution containing the mineral element is obtained. Copper metal is then extracted from this solution by refining processes (Solvent Extraction or Ion-Exchange and Electrowinning). Dissolution (leaching) methods are generally divided into two main categories, leaching without the aid of microorganism and leaching with the help of microorganisms
